Who we are

The Web Guild is a not-for-profit company registered in England and Wales, company number 09753960. We're responsible for the personal information described on this page. If you have any questions about it, please email us.

This website

This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or any kind of tracking. We don't know who visits it and we don't try to find out.

The fonts on this site are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and Google receives your IP address (a number that identifies your internet connection) when a page loads. Our web hosting and security services also process IP addresses to keep the site running and protect it from attacks. None of this is used by us to identify you.

Our forms

When you enter the awards or sign up to our newsletter, you fill in a form hosted by Kit (kit.com), the email service we use. Kit stores your details on our behalf and only uses them to provide its service to us. Kit is based in the United States, so your details may be stored there. Kit's own pages may use cookies, which are covered by Kit's privacy policy.

Resources run by 18a Productions

Some of the resources we point you to, such as the downloadable guide and our talks and events, are run by 18a Productions Limited, a separate company. If you sign up for any of those, you're sharing your information directly with 18a Productions, not The Web Guild, and 18a Productions' privacy policy applies instead of this one.

What we collect and why

If you enter the awards, we collect the details you give us in the entry form, like your name, email address, and information about the website and business you're entering. We use them to run the awards, contact you about your entry, and let you know about future awards.

If you sign up to our newsletter, we collect your name and email address so we can send it to you. We only send it to people who've asked for it, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.

We never sell your details, and we don't share them with anyone except as described on this page.

If your website has been nominated

If someone nominates your website for the awards, we'll hold the details they give us about it, like the business name and web address, and we may get in touch to let you know, including who nominated you. If you'd rather not be included, tell us and we'll remove the entry.

Who sees your entry

Our judges see the information they need to judge an entry, like the website, the business and your answers about it. They don't need your contact details and we don't give them out. If your website is longlisted, shortlisted or wins, we'll share some details publicly, as explained in the awards terms.

How long we keep your details

We keep awards entries for up to three years, so we can let you know when future awards open, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Newsletter subscribers stay on our list until they unsubscribe.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or object to how we use it. Please email us and we'll deal with it as quickly as we can. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page.
